Natalie Madeira Cofield is a business powerhouse. For three years now she has been president and CEO of the Greater Austin Black Chamber of Commerce (GABCC). And just in case you didn't know she is killing the game.
Cofield is doing everything she can to ensure that Austin and its people do not lose out on great opportunities for minority businesses and international relations.
What brought Cofield to Austin you may ask? She knows what prospects this city has and she wants more Austinites to see it too.
"Austin is on everybody's radar, but black people," Cofield tels The Austin Socialite. She is keeping everyone on their toes to ensure that it Austin minorities take advantage of this great city and all it has to offer.
"There's a new legion of young people in Austin," Cofield said. "It's about them and something that's bigger than all of them."
Cofield plans to help turn Austin into a place where these young people can thrive and take control of the city.
In her line of work, Cofield is always on the go, constantly working and traveling from city to city. She is passionate and incredibly strong willed.
"At the pace that I'm at you have to love what you do," Cofield said. "This is not work for me, this is my life's calling. I would never do anything as a professional that didn't touch move and inspire me."
Cofield is also the founder Walkers Legacy, a lecture series focused on creating and empowering female mentors and role models much like herself. When asked what advice she had for others looking to be in a position of power like herself she encouraged being bold, while still maintaining a sense of grace.
"You have to be humbly ruthless," Cofield said.
Austinites can look to Cofield as a shining example of what to do to make it to the top. She's made the climb and has not stopped continuously reaching for new heights, not just for herself but for those around her as well.
